Lingo game
A game derived from the TV show Lingo. A whiteboard or a slate, 3 markers of different colors, 6 attempts to find the right word !
Adaptation of the famous TV game sometimes called The Boxes. Eliminate the boxes one by one, keeping only the last one, but what will it contain? Ideal for putting a person or couple in the spotlight.
In this game, a person or a couple will be the focus of the game. We call them the Player. This could be the person or people celebrating their wedding, civil union, or birthday. The Player will eliminate all the boxes one by one until only one box remains. This box contains their prize.
A host has been appointed in advance, and their mission is to build suspense and entertain the participants. It’s important to choose this person carefully.
About ten people, called the Guardians, are positioned in an L or U shape, one meter apart. They can either stand or sit on a chair (when the Player questions them, they can stand up to interact) with each holding a prize in a box or an envelope. These people do not know what prize they are holding, but the Player can quickly question them about the prize they think they have.
All the prizes in the envelopes are listed somewhere visible, such as on a small whiteboard. The organizer should prepare a varied list of prizes. Ideally, there should be 3 or 4 significant prizes, while the rest can be more humorous.
The Banker During the game, up to three times, the Banker can call the Host to offer a deal. This could involve an intermediate game to exchange a “bad” prize for a better one (remember the exchange, as you shouldn’t modify the envelopes). To win the deal, the Player must win a mini-game, such as:
The Banker can also offer to end the game early for a guaranteed moderate prize or propose bringing back a better prize if a mini-game is won.
- A card in an envelope or a box for each player with the hidden prize written on it in marker.
- A mobile phone to receive calls from the banker.
The game ends when the last box or envelope has been opened. That's when the player at the center of the game learns about their final gift.
Feel free to decide to give the great gifts or even all the gifts to the Player, regardless of the outcome of the game.
